 The regular expedition
The last page in the history of the Antarctic's development has not yet been written as this is the only continent on earth wherein the major part of it is still pristine.
Starting points of trips to the sixth continent are the Antarctic "gait" - Ushuaya, Tierra del Fuego (Argentina), Khobart, Tasmania (Australia), and Littleton (New Zealand). These are places wherein all expeditions to this most severe and remote continent on earth start from.
At the onset of each cruise, one may face a unique phenomenon of Antarctic nature - icebergs.
Starting from Tierra del Fuego, cruise participants will see western Antarctic, which is known for its diversity of natural and biological forms. Mountains covered by unending snow and "dormant" volcanoes are found side by side with unique fauna. Only 40 hours to the south from the "terror" of sailors - Cape Horn; travelers see magnificent chains of mountains surrounded by enormous chunks of ice. The shore is reached in fiords and islands groups, which create fancy labyrinths and bays - favorite palaces of nesting penguins and seal rookeries. There are modern scientific stations on the shore and islands. One can also see signs of the first discoverers and whalers.
Having chosen Tasmania or New Zealand as the starting point, one can follow the way of the pioneers of the South Pole. There are stops at sub Antarctic islands - "oases of life" among an endless expansion of the Southern Ocean. Their mild climate and affable green valleys don't remind you in any way of a trip to the most severe part of our planet. In eastern Antarctica, you nearly won't see any land at all. More than 90% of all freshwater resources on earth are contained in huge ice blocks, which cover the ground and abruptly fall into the ocean. Water as a skilled sculptor chases bays and harbors into icy shores, which constantly change shape under the enormous pressure of ice flows. This is the place where one can see the natives of the Antarctic - phlegmatic emperor penguins. Their beauty and calmness boggle your imagination and match the calm magnificence of this place.
